Earth Shaking News!
We’ll update this story as it develops, but Mojo just brought to our attention that a 5.4 magnitutde earthquake rocked downtown Los Angeles today. The Hypo’s hopes and prayers go out to those affected. Since this is a legal blog, this includes those poor slobs who were taking the California Bar today.
I’m not making that up.
Today was the first day of the California Bar, and was being administered at three locations in Los Angeles. Generally regarded as one of the hardest bar exams in the country, the mind boggles about what they are going to do if the exam was significantly interupted?

Hah. And a CNN article suggests that there’s more to come: There is a 99 percent chance of California experiencing a quake of magnitude 6.7 or larger within the next 30 years, according to the Uniform California Earthquake Rupture Forecast.
I read that too….and also that japan has technology that gives people like a 30 second warning that an earthquake is about to happen, but our gov’t has yet to authorize funding for similar technology here…
But hey, we have more things to spend our money on (or, more accurately, run our debt up), such as the Iraq War, universal healthcare for all, and pointless federal agencies (which, in turn, create cushy federal government jobs that allow full time employees to gain a competitive advantage over our beloved fight the hypo blog hosts in law school)
God Bless America!
A buddy of mine is taking that test – this reminds me to drop him an email.
